AGW literacy club from JK to University

AGW is the first literacy club that targets the psychology of a successful student. Hence, our instructors teach the essential tools for time management and self management skills which allows the student to gain confidence and practice the literacy skills daily.AGW presents fun and engaging Evidence-Based Literacy interventions . All strategies implemented have been supported by research, such as Orton-Gillingham for struggling readers or the psychology of joyful learning.

  • Early Literacy (JK to Grade 3)

    • Focus on Phonemic Awareness: Students will develop the ability to listen and manipulate sounds in words. Use programs like RAZKIDS, arts, phonics games.
    • strengthen fine motor skills through fun games
    • Build Vocabulary : Use arts and crafts as well as engaging creative abstract art to teach a wide range of words through stories, songs, acting.

  • Middle Literacy (Grades 4 to 8)

    • Book clubs
    • learn to read novels with peers and discuss the plot, characters, and discuss the author's point of view

    • learn about budgeting, saving, taxes, mortgages, and cost of living.
    • Reading Comprehension Strategies**: Teach students how to summarize, predict, and infer meaning from texts. Use the "Reciprocal Teaching" method and programs like

  • Guidance for University Admission Preparation

    • Coaches will help students in production of Personal Statement Writing: Offer workshops on crafting compelling personal statements. Use examples and guides from The UCAS Guide to Getting into University.
    • Focus on Advanced Literacy Skills: Using various real-life projects students how to analyze academic papers, write at a collegiate level, and prepare for university-level coursework.
    • Debate team: Critical Reading and Writing: The focus will be on higher-order literacy skills needed for university, such as research based projects, written critical analysis, argumentative writing, and analyzing of information.
    • AGW Mentorship and Guidance Program: Students will be paired with mentors or peer tutors based on their interests and goals. This is a great networking opportunity which can guide them through the application process, offering feedback on essays , engineering courses, science courses and provide advice on interviews.
  • Digital Marketing and Technology Integration

    • Learn Digital Literacy: Teach students to navigate and evaluate online resources. Introduce tools like "Google Scholar" and "Evernote" for research and organization.
